Children’s Privacy Notice
Effective October 3, 2026 · Operated by Kemp Ventures, LLC
Our promise to parents
- Kids’ areas have no ads, no chat, no public profiles, no photo or voice uploads, and no purchases.
- Children use a nickname only. We never ask for a child’s real name, email, phone, photo, address, school, birthday, or location.
- Nothing about your child is stored on our servers unless you create a parent account and give permission first.
- We never sell children’s information or share it with third parties for their own use.
- You can review, download, or delete your child’s information at any time.
This Children’s Privacy Notice explains how Kemp Ventures, LLC (“we”) handles information from children under 13 on gisellechanel.com, as required by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the FTC’s COPPA Rule. It adds to our Privacy Policy. We apply the same protections to every child learner, including those 13 and older.
1. Who is collecting the information
Kemp Ventures, LLC (operating Giselle Chanel)
Tyler, Texas
Email: info@gisellechanel.com
Parents can contact us at this address with any question about their child’s information.
2. Our kids’ areas and what each one collects
| Area | What we collect from your child |
|---|---|
| GC Club games | Nothing. Hearts and scores stay in your own browser. |
| Style Studio | Nothing. Saved outfits stay in your own browser. |
| GC Academy, “On This Device” mode | Nothing is sent to us. Nicknames and progress stay in your browser on that device. You can erase them in the Parent Area. |
| GC Academy family account (when available) | Only the items in section 3, and only after a parent creates the account and gives permission. |
3. GC Academy family accounts: what we collect and why
A parent (18+) creates the account. Children never create accounts or enter an email.
| Information | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| From the parent: email address, password (hashed by our login provider), consent records | To sign the parent in, verify permission, send account notices, and respond to requests |
| Child’s nickname (letters only, 2–14 characters; real full names are not allowed) | So the child can pick their profile and see “Welcome back” |
| Avatar choice (a built-in picture such as a crown or star) | So the child can recognize their profile |
| Grade level (1–5) | To show practice at the right level |
| Learning preferences (text size, line spacing, read-aloud on/off) | Accessibility and comfort |
| Learning activity: answers, correct/incorrect, hints used, time spent, skill progress, Style Stars, badges, and unlocked game items | To save progress, choose the next practice skill, show parents a progress report, and award Style Stars |
| A random profile ID and technical data (such as IP address and browser type) received by our hosting providers | To keep the service running and secure. These are not used to contact your child or for advertising. |
We do not collect: a child’s real name, email, phone number, photo, video, voice recording, address, school, birthday, location, government ID, or biometric information. Read-aloud uses your device’s built-in voice and never turns on the microphone. We don’t ask a child for more information than an activity needs.
Automated suggestions
GC Academy uses your child’s answers to suggest the next skill to practice and to show progress labels such as “Growing” or “Strong.” These suggestions are only for learning inside GC Academy. They are not used for advertising or marketing, are not shared with anyone, and can be reset by the parent.
4. Who can see it
- Other users never see your child’s information. There are no public profiles, leaderboards, or messaging.
- We do not sell, rent, or disclose children’s information to third parties for their own use, and we do not use it for advertising.
- We use two service providers to store and protect account information: Supabase, Inc. (database and parent login) and Netlify, Inc. (website hosting and server functions). They may use it only to provide their services to us, and they must keep it confidential and secure.
- We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect a child’s safety.
If we ever want to share children’s information with a third party for any other reason, we will first ask for your separate permission. You can agree to collection without agreeing to any sharing.
5. How parents give permission
- The parent creates a parent account and confirms their email address.
- Before adding any child profile, the parent reads this Notice and gives permission by checking the consent box.
- We then send a confirmation email to the parent. The parent can withdraw permission at any time by replying to that email or contacting us.
Because children’s information is used only inside GC Academy and is never disclosed to third parties, this email confirmation method is allowed under the COPPA Rule. If that ever changes, we will use a stronger verification method and ask for permission again.
Until a parent gives permission, GC Academy works only in “On This Device” mode, and nothing about the child is sent to us.
6. Your rights as a parent
At any time you can:
- Review your child’s information and progress in the Parent Area (protected by your parent PIN), or ask us for a copy.
- Download your family’s data from the Parent Area.
- Correct a nickname, avatar, grade, or preferences.
- Delete a child’s profile and all of that child’s learning records, or delete your whole account.
- Refuse further collection or withdraw your permission. We will stop collecting and delete the child’s information.
You can do most of this yourself in the Parent Area, or email info@gisellechanel.com. To protect your child, we will confirm that a request really comes from the parent on the account before we share or delete anything.
7. How long we keep children’s information
We keep children’s information only as long as it’s needed for learning, and then delete it:
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Question-by-question answers | 12 months, then reduced to skill-progress totals and the detailed answers are deleted |
| Profile, skill progress, Style Stars, and badges | While the account is active |
| Inactive accounts (no sign-in for 24 months) | We email the parent, then delete the account and all child profiles 30 days later |
| When a parent deletes a profile or account, or withdraws permission | Deleted from our live systems right away. Backup copies are erased within 30 days. |
| Consent records | Kept up to 3 years after the account closes, to show permission was given. They contain the parent’s email and date, not the child’s information. |
8. How we protect it
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our database provider.
- Each family’s data is walled off at the database level, so a parent can see only their own family’s profiles.
- A parent PIN guards the Parent Area, so children can’t change settings or see family rewards.
- Only the people who need access to run GC Academy have it.
- We follow a written information security program and review it at least once a year. If a breach ever affected your child’s information, we would notify you as the law requires.
9. Rewards
Children earn Style Stars for effort and progress and can unlock outfits in Style Stars. Stars have no cash value. Any family reward, such as a shop discount, appears only in the Parent Area. Children see only a message that a family reward was unlocked.
10. Changes
If we make a material change to how we collect, use, or share children’s information, we will notify parents by email and get new permission before the change applies to their child.
11. Questions
